Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Stanford University’s Riffbot (“Riff”), an online platform for educators and trainers. By using our platform, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Use of Service

Riffbot is a platform that allows educators and trainers to generate customized self-reflection chatbots to be used by their students, via their own webpages and applications. Educators and trainers are solely responsible for the use of Riffbotand any content that they or their students create using the service. As educator/trainer, you agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in connection with your use of the platform. Users (educators and trainers) shall have legal capacity to accept the Terms. Accurate and complete information is necessary for successful account registration. Access credentials and accounts must not be shared outside the organization, and the user is responsible for all activities conducted through their credentials.

2. Payment and Subscriptions

Once we make subscriptions available, users will be able to choose from various subscription plans with different pricing tiers, which will be detailed on the pricing page. Payment for the subscription will be due in advance of the subscription term and can be made using the payment methods specified on the payment page. Riffbot reserves the right to modify the pricing and payment terms at any time and will provide notice of any changes to users.

3. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all intellectual property rights in any content that you create using the service.

4. Moderation and inappropriate content

Riffbot implements Enchatted's signature moderation module respo.ai, which detects inappropriate and concerning content -such as mentions of hate, self-harm, violence, and sexual activity beyond sex education and wellness- and prevents the generative AI function of Riff to respond, deploying instead a scripted answer, interrupting the conversation, and alerting the user. When such content is detected, none of the related data is stored.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

Riffbot makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of the service or the information, content, materials, or products included on the service. Users expressly agree that the use of the service is at their sole risk.

6. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall Riffbot be liable for any damages, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the platform.

7. Indemnification

Users agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Stanford University's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) and Enchatted, its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against all claims, losses, expenses, damages, and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service or any violation of these terms and conditions.

8. Termination

Riffbot reserves the right to terminate your access to the service at any time without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these terms and conditions.

9. Governing Law

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.

10. Changes to Terms and Conditions

Riffbot may update these terms and conditions from time to time without notice. Your continued use of the service following any such update constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms and conditions.

11. Privacy Notice

By using the service, you acknowledge and agree with the Riffbot privacy notice, which explains how user data is collected and used. You can access our privacy notice here.
